CITIZEN VOTER GROUP ENDORSEMENT OF SCHOOL DISTRICT CANDIDATES

Lake Bluff School District taxpayers face a watershed opportunity on April 9th to elect four new members of the elementary school board. We have previously strongly endorsed the four candidates who were competitively vetted and selected by the LB caucus, and do so again. Previous e-mails and other communications have addressed our reasons for doing so. The candidates endorsed are the caucus choices, in the order in which they appear on the ballot:

  CHRIS LETCHINGER           #1

  RICH HEGG                     #2

  JOHN MAROZSAN            #3

  JULIE GOTTSHALL           #5*

(*Please note that the above caucus candidates are not positioned contiguously as a slate)

We have previously reported on the debacle surrounding the financing of the elementary school building. The unconventional repayment schedule will cost taxpayers an additional $5 million over the life of the debt.

Academic performance in MS Math is not up to expectations of a top ES program, as evidenced by the designation of our district as failing to make Adequate Yearly Progress in the 2012 Illinois Report Card.

Should any readers desire more information of the above, please let us know by reply e-mail. We are pleased to share the backup specifics with any voters who ask.

The above candidates have declared themselves committed to “Academics + Accountability”. We are completely convinced that they will, given the opportunity to function as a team, seriously address these and other issues in an open and collaborative fashion.  They will make a difference. We ask for your vote to set this in motion.

Respectfully,

Concerned Lake Bluff Taxpayers

Ed Holstein  Bob Troyer  Neil Dahlmann  Kathy O’Hara

Bill Minor  David Forlow  David Barkhausen  Dave McElvain

P.S. Please remember to vote on next Tuesday April 9th. For your convenience, Early Voting is available at the Lake Forest City Hall through April 6th, M-F 9:00 – 4:30, Saturday 9:00 – 2:00
